Design Process and Pricing

My custom design process is the same for skaters who train in the Southern California region
or who live in other areas of the United States or internationally. First I request some basic information including age, test level, coach, and upcoming competition schedule. Then I review the music, usually sent as an email attachment, and make notes on program theme and coach’s suggestions as well as skater preferences. At that time a deposit is requested and once received the design process begins. Sketches are sent by email and await approval or additional suggestions. Occasionally color samples are mailed to the skater to ensure absolute agreement on shade. Accurate measurements are essential so, if the project is long distance, someone with experience must measure and calculate the skater’s dimensions. Construction requires approximately three weeks and can include a fitting if the skater is local. If the costume will be shipped, it is advisable to order with enough advance time to allow for adjustments either at the skater’s location or, for major alterations, back in my studio.

Price for custom designed costumes varies according to complexity of design, amount of special dye work, crystal art, and hand beading.

My base price for all custom designs is $700.00 with a deposit of 50% at the time of sketch presentation. Once the sketch is approved an estimate of final cost for the accepted costume will be given.
